Safety Come First - Comply or Die
We are extremely focused on all risk aspects! We managed successfully to conduct the previous races without any risk to the spectators and the riders/drivers. Our intention is to build on this track record going forward.
UPDATED REQUIREMENTS FOR 2026!
We have defined a few MANDATORY requirements that all vehicles and Drivers MUST comply with to race.
1. Eligible Vehicles
- Pre-war cars: coupes, roadsters, and specials US og European.
- Pre-war motorcycles: US or European origin.
- Vehicle appearance, major components, and performance-related parts must be period correct and not newer than 1947.
- Discretion rests with RMF technical officials in cases of ambiguity.
2. Motorcycle Riders – Personal Safety Equipment
Mandatory equipment for all motorcycle riders:
- Helmet
- Modern helmet permitted, provided period appearance is maintained
- Helmet must be approved to at least one of the following standards:
- ECE R22.05 or ECE R22.06
- DOT FMVSS 218
- SNELL M2015 / M2020
- FIM Racing Homologation
- Back protector, certified and properly fitted.
- Gloves, mandatory during all racing activity.
- Eye protection: goggles, glasses, or face shield. *
- Footwear: shoes or boots with firm sole. *
- Trousers: long pants or jeans. *
- Upper body: jacket or jersey. *
- Must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or performance-impairing medication.
- * Clothing must be period correct in appearance.
Additional motorcycle safety requirements:
- Functional engine kill switch, accessible while seated.
- Throttle must return freely to closed position.
- Front and rear brakes must be fully functional.
- No fuel or oil leaks permitted.
3. Car Drivers – Personal Safety Equipment
Mandatory equipment for all drivers:
- Helmet, approved to at least one of the following standards:
- ECE R22.05 or ECE R22.06
- DOT FMVSS 218
- FIA 8859-2015
- FIA 8860-2018
- SNELL SA2015 / SA2020
- BS 6658 Type A/FR
- Eye protection: goggles, glasses, or face shield. *
- Footwear: shoes or boots with firm sole. *
- Trousers: long pants or jeans. *
- Upper body: jacket or jersey. *
- Must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or performance-impairing medication.
- * Clothing must be period correct in appearance.
4. Disqualification
Immediate disqualification will occur if:
- Drivers, riders, mechanics, or helpers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Failure to comply with instructions from the official RMF team.
- Reckless, dangerous, or irresponsible driving at any time.
- Rømø Beach is considered a public road. You must comply with local authorities and traffic laws. Any violation may lead to disqualification from the event.
5. Safety and Technical Requirements
Engine Compartment / Interior:
- Engine compartment must be clean and accessible for inspection.
- Fuel lines and hoses must be securely fastened and protected.
- Fuel system must not leak.
- Oil leaks are not permitted (minor sweating acceptable).
- No loose components or unsecured items.
- Seats must be securely mounted.
- Fire extinguisher, minimum 1 kg ABC or equivalent, securely mounted and within reach of the driver.
- Battery must be securely mounted and electrically insulated.
- Securely mounted seat belt, minimum requirement: lap belt.
Vehicle Exterior / Chassis:
- Racing numbers must be clearly visible.
- All body panels, hood, trunk, and access panels must be securely fastened.
- Headlights must be removed or glass securely taped.
- Fuel tank must be securely mounted.
- Fuel cap must be present and positively secured.
- Hubcaps must be removed or securely fastened.
- Steering linkage must be properly secured.
- Steering system must operate freely with no excessive play.
- Wheels must be inspected and securely mounted.
- Braking system must function effectively on all wheels.
- Tires must be in good condition.
- Street or racing tires permitted.
- No paddle or tractor-style tires allowed.
- Frame and chassis must be free from cracks or structural damage.
